Aerial Peace

Have a look at this eerie little film set in a Marrickville backyard.

That's really weird because I'm just reading Bret Easton Ellis' 'Lunar Park', which has all these scary happenings in suburban back yards. It's savage. Gloomy. Periodontitis and gold lame tights.

Jeez... American Psycho was enough for me. Dean I can't believe the amount of books you get through. Do you ever sleep? The really scary thing about that film is that many Marrickville backyards really do have planes flying that closely overhead. If you didn't know Marrickville you'd think the plane had been added in.

I loved that film. I thought it was beautiful. Really beautiful. Maybe I am alone in that? Meredith, this blog is looking wonderful

Hey Julia,

I don't think you're alone in that. There is something beautiful & terrifying about the planes. I took Sailor last night to a tiny little park in Sydenham. A massive plane, about the same size as the park, flew over. The roar of engines was immense, it was so close I felt like ducking. There there was something wonderful about it.

Julia gave me your blog address which is very kind of her. It has given me a wee look at Marrickville and you.
I will get in touch soon by old-fashioned post, but in the meantime I will leave you with:
1. planes you can touch with your finger are common in Hounslow, London. Their frequency is that of someone with hiccups... . Honest!
2. what a wonderful blog - very peaceful, if that makes sense.
lots of love,
Sonja

I really like your web site. I'm just moving to Marrickville from Annandale and I am excited to get a feel for the place from some one who obviously love living there! Thanks for your great work, Chris. P.S. That was a sad story about the German Sheapard. :(
